TO BROWSE BOOKS, CLICK ON ONE OF THE CATEGORIES LISTED ON THE LEFT. You can also click on a tag in the tag cloud.

I am moving and cannot take all of these books with me.  I’m hoping to raise a bit of cash before I go by selling as many of these books as I can before leaving in about three weeks.  Any and all books in my library (NOT Humairah’s library) are for sale.  Any book that I didn’t want to sell, I removed from my book list so anything you see here is available.  I also have about 40 books that I haven’t listed yet that have been donated or which I bought since last posting.  I got a pretty big influx at the end of last school year.

Also, this does not mean that the site is finished.  I can administer this from anywhere and I am ready and willing to do so.  I just won’t be able to maintain my own library here.  Anyone eles who wants to post a library should contact me and we can make that a reality.  It’s not much trouble at all, really, and you get to meet some great people.

NEW exciting announcement:  We have been featured in the news again, this time in a special report about reading in the Arab world.  You can read it here at the Khaleej Times website.  It’s a rather interesting article with our without information about us here in Al Ain.  Check it out!

Exciting announcement! We have now been featured in the Gulf News. Click on the blue text for a link to the article.

Welcome to the Al Ain Book Sharing Club.

This is only a club in the loosest sense of the word. I’m Stephanie and I’m administer of the site. Basically, there are a lot of people in Al Ain who want to read, but the only option around is to buy books all the time, read them once, and let them gather dust.

Using this site is easy. Each person who contributes a library will have their name posted with the sub-categories of fiction and non-fiction. If you see a book you want on the list, contact that person and arrange a meeting time to exchange the book.

  1. Hi Stephanie!
So good to see this . I wish you all the best. And I’d love to be a part of this book sharing group too.
    Have a great day.

  2. Great idea..would this include kids books as well?

  3. That depends entirely on what other people add to the library. I only have one Children’s book at the moment, so as soon as we get some people willing to lend children’s books, that should become a reality.

  4. Sound idea. Like most other newly arrived UAEU staff, all my books are in storage, and likely to remain there until well into October. But keep my place warm, please.

  5. Great idea ..so glad you made the website..all the best

  6. I think you’ve done a good job with the website, good layout, colours, text font uniformity and it’s user friendly. Great idea, thanks.

  7. How do I give you a list from my personal library? I mainly have books on history and theology though. Not sure who is interested.

  8. Good stuff! I just added a link to you on my blog…

  9. Ah, cheers for that. Welcome to the neighborhood!

  10. @Ryan:

Go to the “Lend your books” tab at the top of the page and click on it for instructions. It’s pretty easy.

I’m SO sorry for the late reply. Your comment got sent to my spam folder, which I don’t check very often. Now I know I need to be a little more diligent about that.

  11. Hello! What a great idea! I just moved to Al Ain a month ago and was asking people about book groups and booksharing. Like many, I have books all stored away at home, but love that idea of trading out since I noticed the few books I’ve picked up here are not cheap. I’ll be in touch. Thanks!! 🙂

  12. Hi
I am a student in the university in al ain. I will do a presentation about a multicultural UAE. I chose this topic because I want to make people here especially locals aware of the multicultural society they are living in and I want all of us to respect others more so that we can live here, in the UAE happier.

It would be great if you can give me some ideas to do this presentation. I also have some questions for you.
-What do you like about local people?
-What don’t you understand about them?
-Do you have any problems with people from different cultures that arise from language, cultural and religious differences?
-Do you have any funny situations created from the difference in cultures or languages?
Please mail me your answers to reefuns@hotmail.com
Or simply post them on you blog I will come to check.
    Thank you in advance

    Anusorn 
